My Approach
My approach is Integrative, meaning I tailor our sessions to meet your needs because we are all different. I am trained in Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt as the foundation of my work. I also use CBT techniques to support clients with specific challenges. I work Humanistically meaning, you are an expert on yourself and I am here to facilitate you to make choices and changes to improve your emotional well-being.
Many clients come to see me after struggling to cope alone. Many people try to simply ‘carry on’ because they see asking for help as weakness. Instead, I believe seeking counselling is a sign of real courage. I welcome you with warmth and without judgement and what is said between us is confidential. I offer a safe and accepting space for you to talk.
Away from family and friends, you have the opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings, to explore what is troubling you and to identify what you might like to change. This is a positive step you can make to counter a difficult or stuck time in your life. For whilst you cannot alter how people behave towards you, or change what has already happened, you can learn more about the way you think, the way you feel and your pattern of behaviour. We can then together, look at changes for you.
Our work may explore early relationships and experiences and how these impact on you today. Or maybe you would like to explore negative thoughts you hold of yourself (CBT) in order to reduce anxiety or depression.
